I chose to do a magazine for my final project as the last time I created one it went well and I really enjoyed creating the magazine as I have linked the creation on topics I know very well I know a lot about sports so that really helped and also I know a few things on lifestyle and how I can link it to my sports topic, my aims on this project is to make my magazine as interesting as possible to the audience I have set myself and try to make this magazine really stand out from any other lifestyle and sports magazine. The research that went behind this project has really helped as I didn’t know how to layout a recipe page for the lifestyle part of my magazine so I had a look at some examples and analysed some to try and get an idea on how to properly lay it out correct, what also helped was the colours I saw that they used as I can use a similar colour or a colour that has the same meaning on some of my pages, the main research source that was the most helpful was the questionnaire as I could come up with the questions and send it to different people that are the similar age audience I want to set my magazine for, and it also helped as I gave me the results of the most popular answer and to gain ideas on what I can do in my magazine.

 

I did go back and look at the old magazine I made to see what was wrong with it and how I can avoid making those mistakes again in this project and just looking back to see what was wrong with my old magazine has also shown the progress I have made throughout the year, I could’ve also looked at different sources as I only looked at sport and lifestyle pages and magazines so it would give me knowledge on how to layout those different pages but I should’ve looked at different magazine pages and magazines themselves as I could take ideas off of those as different magazines have different colour use and layout so with just looking at different magazine topics would’ve helped me lay it out properly and how different colours really helps make the magazine pop and stand out from others, other resources that would’ve improve my design further would interviewing more than one person as different people have different perspectives on things so that would’ve helped me a little bit more so I could try and aim my magazine at both female and male so it doesn’t only really appeal to on gender, I could’ve also analysed different kind of magazine pages so it shows that I am not only focusing on how to layout and design the two topics so analysing different topics of magazines would’ve got me a better insight on how different topics/genres layout and design there different magazines. With coming to the design process of all my pages went pretty well as I spoke in detail with each step and instead of doing individual steps for the same thing I will just add all those steps into one big step and speak in much more detail about why and what I did in all those steps, the key software I used to create my adverts and everything else was on ‘Photoshop’ this really helped as it had all the tools I needed to create each and every pages, some key processes I have learned from this design process was that having a clear image is always important as it makes the image and the page, in general, better to look at and when it is printed it will be clear and not blurry and also to get a proper image and not a stock image as it is really hard to cover up the lines and random bits on the main image, the elements that went well was the choice of colours and fonts had as most of my adverts were pretty simple the fonts and colours that I put on there reflect on how it looks as a whole, the kind of improvements I could make on the process was some of my adverts as most of them were simple and plain and the creative side of them needs to be improved as they wont stand out as much whilst having a creative advert would really pop out to the viewer and will intrigue them to buy the product I am trying to promote, in the future I could try and give some of my adverts some more thought as I want every page to look brilliant and non of them to look plain and simple so the creative side of it will be improved for future reference. The most successful feature in my final project is the front cover I had to go back to it many times as I got loads of feedback from it so I had to change it to suit my audience’s view so I had to keep changing it to show improvement and to make it in the way my audience likes it. All my choices within my design and language have reflected my audience as I got feedback on how I can change some features to suit my audience, some of the features that are less successful would have to be my adverts as they are pretty simple and lazy so I wouldn’t think my target audience would be interested enough as they don’t scream attention, how I would improve my final product is that I would go back and ask some people that are in my target audience and ask how I would improve it to make it stand out to them, I tried to stick with the action plan and the schedule but I highly doubt I stuck to it but I tried to stick with it.

 

With the project being finished it feels relieving and I’m happy with how the product came out I finished the project before the deadline so I had time before it was supposed to hand in so I had time to go back and improve the work with having feedback from my work, looking back at my induction I think I have achieved what I said on my induction as I kept on looking back at it and seeing what I said so I can stick with what I said, the kind of things I will take from this project is that feedback is good to take on so you can see what your target audience would want to see you improve in the final product.
